Among Us is a survival, puzzle multiplayer game in which up to ten players are on board a ship, tasked with completing necessary duties to maintain the ship.
If you're not quite ready for multiplayer action, Among Us offers a solo mode called Freeplay. You can access it from the start menu. In Freeplay mode, you can freely explore different maps, practice completing tasks, or simulate being the Impostor which is perfect for learning the ropes without the pressure of competition. On the table in this mode, you'll find a laptop that lets you pick which tasks you want to practice or switch roles. Impostors are marked in red, while Crewmates are cyan. Dummy players are scattered around the map and are static, offering no real danger but still voting at random during meetings. In this mode, a win or loss simply resets the game.
When playing as a Crewmate, you won't know your role until the game begins. You can control your character using a mouse, keyboard, or touchpad, depending on your device. Your goal is to complete tasks, which are displayed as icons in different rooms. To do so, simply walk to the designated area and interact with the object. If you discover a dead body, you can report it, initiating a meeting where you and other players discuss the situation. You can also call an emergency meeting to address suspicions. Afterward, players vote to decide who might be the Impostor, with the option to skip votes if unsure. To win, complete all tasks or survive until the Impostor is ejected.
